I've been providing editing services, solutions and support for more than 20 years. I've edited a wide range of content for all types of companies, in industries including automotive, financial, legal, pharmaceutical, education and human resources. I've also been the on-call editor for many advertising, marketing, branding and publishing firms.

Why is that important to you?

It means that you get peace of mind that your content will be clean, clear and error-free. You get the security of an experienced on-call editor who is just a click away - email your documents or project details, and leave the rest to me.

So, contact me if...

You produce a lot of content

You're a publisher, creative/marketing director or managing editor. You have full-time or freelance employees who handle most editing needs. But you're very busy, or you're short-handed, or you have a project that needs an experienced eye and very little time to get it done.

This is my specialty. Consider me your on-call editor. When you have an editing need, just email me the documents, and I'll get it done. If it's a rush, External link opens in new tab or windowcall me. Then leave the rest to me.

You need editing expertise

You have a book, website or project that needs an editor's touch. But you don't know who to call or what's involved in the editing process. Or you just want to get this one important project reviewed before it goes out to all your clients and prospects.

Editing services

Column

I provide a wide range of editing services. Contact me if you have a specific request or want more information about what I do.

Each type of service is described in greater detail below.

  • Proofreading involves reading through the final proofs of an edited manuscript. For advertising agencies, packaging companies and branding firms (and similar companies), this means reading through the final layout to check for obvious errors. I also offer copy-to-copy proofreading, which involves comparing the final layout to the client's copy.

  • Copy editing involves editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style, as well as checking for consistency of mechanics and facts. Copy editing is more involved than proofreading.

  • Developmental/project editing involves coordinating and editing a project from initial concept through to final manuscript, as well as incorporating input from the author. I have seven years of experience as a Managing Editor with a small publishing company. I will bring my experience and knowledge to your project and ensure that it flows smoothly, meets your deadlines and falls within budget.

  • Substantive/structural editing involves clarifying and/or reorganizing a manuscript for content and structure. I will help you to arrange sections, chapters, ideas and content to ensure that the finished product truly appeals to your audience.

  • Stylistic editing involves clarifying meaning, eliminating jargon, smoothing language and other non-mechanical line-by-line editing. It usually involves rewriting and editing when the material does not "speak" to its intended audience. It may also include checking or correcting the reading level.

  • Rewriting involves analyzing and revising existing content to ensure that it is clear, accurate and effective. The amount of rewriting required will depend on what you are trying to achieve and the effectiveness of the existing content. Rewriting is similar to the editing process, but it is more involved and can lead to changing a large portion of the content.

  • Indexing involves creating an alphabetical list of names, places, subjects, concepts, etc., that appear in a book. I use Microsoft Word to create indexes, unlike other indexers who may use special indexing software.
